Allergies Treatment In Ayurveda is desensitization to medications, foods, environmental irritants or objects, or factors such as temperature and particular weather, to specific stimuli/articles. These substances function as antigens that give rise to a body reaction involving the development of certain substances in the body, such as histamine.
Allergy Linked to Vata
These individuals are allergic to foods that are dry, bitter, spicy, and astringent, raw foods, frozen foods, beans, dry and windy cold weather, constant stress, and overactivity.
This kind of allergic reaction can suddenly start with asthma, dizziness, giddiness, tinnitus, earaches and pains, headaches related to wheezing, and Vata. These individuals are also susceptible to constipation, anxiety, and restlessness.
The symptoms are mainly seen in nervous system, respiratory system, bones, and colon.
Allergy Linked to Pitta
Pitta, when combined with aggravating factors such as citric fruits, fermented foods, hot weather, extreme sunlight, and spicy, sour, or salty foods, can lead to heightened allergic reactions. In Ayurveda, individuals with Pitta imbalances are often prone to sensitive skin and may experience allergies to specific fabrics, metals, synthetic materials, and other irritants.
The primary organs affected by Pitta Dosha include the skin, eyes, and parts of the digestive tract, liver, and spleen. Common symptoms in these areas include red rashes, urticaria, allergic dermatitis, eczema, skin redness with inflammation, and the formation of pustules.
Allergy Linked to Kapha
Kapha is aggravated by sweet, sour, and salty foods, including dairy products like cheese, yogurt, and milk. Certain fruits, such as cucumber and watermelon, can also trigger allergic reactions. Allergies tend to worsen during the cold, rainy, and gloomy seas
Shodhana
Shodhana, or Ayurvedic detoxification, targets the root cause of the allergic response. It helps balance the Agni (digestive fire), removes excess Dosha from the body, and strengthens the immune system. This approach is most effective when the allergic reaction is not in its acute phase. The five detoxification methods, each targeting a specific Dosha, include:
Vomiting Therapy (Vamana):Allergies Linked to Kapha
Medicinal purgation (Virecana):Allergies Linked to Pitta
Self-medicating enemas (Basti):Allergies Linked to Vata
Blood-letting (Rakta Moskhana): Allergies correlated with blood and Pitta
Nasal Treatments (Nasya): Allergies linked to Kapha
Shamana
Shamana involves treatments for acute inflammatory allergic reactions.
Allergies are a result of an immune system response to substances, whether common or uncommon, causing an overreaction. While some allergies can be inherited, they can also develop at any point in life. An allergen can be any substance, regardless of its origin.
